Keyboard

Are you looking to learn the musical keyboard? Or are you looking to encourage your children to learn? This page may be one of the best resources for you, featuring my personal journey and the comprehensive materials required to reach master-level knowledge in playing the keyboard.

This page documents my journey in learning the musical keyboard. In my late thirties, my playing skill was almost zero. Now, I have reached a level where I can perform at live events, though I am still a student of the instrument.

Playing the electronic keyboard is an amazing experience. Electronic keyboards come in many different variations, but if you ask me what my favorite instrument is, I would say the arranger keyboard without hesitation. The arranger keyboard simulates a band; a good player can perform solo events with the effect of a full backing track.

One of my inspirations for music came from my brother. He is a music teacher and an excellent keyboard player. I dedicate this page to him.

Although my brother is an expert, I did not focus on learning the keyboard until I set my New Year’s resolution in 2020. At that time, my knowledge was literally zero. I am sharing all of this to reassure you that if you are looking to learn, it is not too late. Start learning now.

Here is my first attempt at learning the keyboard. It was a self-taught experience where I focused on one song and tried to master the functions of the instrument. This project provided me with several key insights:

  • Learning an entire song
  • Using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and recording equipment
  • Understanding the recording process, including mixing techniques, mastering, and video editing

Despite the late hour and multiple takes, this recording provided valuable insights into the demanding nature of music production. As a novice keyboard player, I grappled with the challenge of a flawless live performance, but the process offered a clear understanding of the effort required to create professional-quality music.

I chose to record this in 432 Hz to stay true to the original song’s vibration. Listening back has been a great learning tool; it helped me see exactly where I can sharpen my vocals and my overall presentation. I’m excited to keep pushing my limits and improving with every track.
